I have been known, at times, to be somewhat forgetful.  I have routinely locked keys in vehicles (twice in one day, with the engine running), boiled saucepans dry, forgotten to pick a child up at school (yes, I know that I’m the only one who’s ever done that), eye-shadowed just one eye—that sort of thing.  Once I even made it all the way to work and didn’t realize I’d arrived sans shoes until I got out of my car, accustomed I guess, to being barefoot in summer.

But one thing I NEVER forget is an amazing meal!  And last Saturday night’s Field and Vine event—dinner prepared by Chef Pascal Chureau of Allium Bistrot and a talented team who had to pull double duty because of an unexpected thunderstorm—was just that.  Unforgettably amazing!

Here is a glimpse at that beautiful evening at Alexeli Winery—dinner in a late-summer vineyard, filled with lovely laughter, gorgeous food, and what seemed like a never-ending glass of Alexeli’s wonderful wine.

Is there ever such a thing as too much cheese?  I didn’t think so…

We were all taking turns at my table pouring--upending the platter actually--the sauce from the grilled beef with chimichuri sauce (and carmelized shallots and mushrooms!) onto our plates!  Did I mention the mushrooms?
