About

I’m Lorrie, and I’m in the kitchen a lot.  I’m in the garden a lot.  With our often wet weather in the Willamette Valley, I’m in my kitchen, looking out the window at the garden a lot!

There are so many things that I love (and that I’ll probably write about at some point), but food—REAL food—is very important to me.  Not just eating to sustain life, but cooking beautiful, nourishing—and, let’s be honest here, occasionally rich and decadent—meals for people that I love.  I grew up in a family where cooking and eating was (and still is) important, including what was brought home by the hunter-gatherers of the clan.  We rarely ate out, and if we did, it was at a local family-style Italian restaurant where the owners and staff knew my parents and us kids by name.

To me, ‘fast food’ is fruit, and ‘take-out’ means that you ‘take’ your plate ‘out’ to the patio.

So let’s pour a cup of coffee (or a glass of wine depending on the time of day) and chat…about food, about wine, about our gardens, about our children, about our pets (there’s a cat draped over my keyboard as I type this), about life!

I can’t wait to hear from you, so until then, enjoy!
And thanks for stopping by!

Lorrie

    • Hi Caran! Thanks for stopping by, and for the follow. I dropped by your blog, and went straight to your “Good Bye, Peach Tree” post! I talk to my trees too, and have figs AND an Italian Prune that I had to nurse back to health when some marauding cows decimated it.
Hoping for a wonderful gardening season for us both…
      Lorrie
